On Dec. 1, 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) unveiled a new website titled “Worker Safety in Hospitals.” The website is a comprehensive source of workplace safety information for employers in the healthcare industry.

According to OSHA, workplace injuries in the healthcare industry are extremely common – even more so than in the construction and manufacturing industry. Unlike many industries, employees in healthcare settings face unique safety risks, from heavy lifting to workplace violence. To hopefully alleviate some of the safety risks, OSHA created this new website to provide employers with facts, tools, and guidance for preventing and addressing workplace safety issues in a healthcare setting.

By way of example, the website provides employers with suggested content for injury and violence prevention programs, including real life examples from hospitals that have implemented prevention programs already. The website also provides employers with statistics, managerial support, proper lifting guidance, recordkeeping requirements, and much more.

If your organization is in the healthcare industry, take time to review this valuable resource. If you have any questions about workplace injury or violence prevention, do not hesitate to contact the lawyers at Lowenbaum Law.
